Montgomery's Artisan Butchers

"This is exactly the type of Church the Trust is keen to support where the buildings provide both a centre for worship and for serving the wider community."

Ray Adams, former Chair of the Congregational and General Charitable Trust.

Grant funded projects:

  • Main nave roof replacement
  • 'Bat work'

The Trust was delighted to assist St Mark’s Church in Newby with a grant of £8,500 towards the cost of replacing the main nave roof in June 2017.

The Church hoped to complete the work by Spring 2018 but the presence of bats delayed this. As it was necessary to apply for a licence to undertake the ‘bat work’, it took a year to complete work on the roof – but it is now complete.

St Mark’s Church in Newby is a thriving Church offering weekly Eucharistic worship to a congregation of over 100 people. The Church also has a wider community role, providing a focus for various groups and activities covering all ages.

The Trust Chairman who was in position when the grant was awarded,  Ray Adams, said ‘this is exactly the type of Church the Trust is keen to support where the buildings provide both a centre for worship and for serving the wider community’.
