Holy Trinity Church, Woodgreen

Grant funded projects:

  • Church Roof Replacement
  • Improved Disabled Facilities

We learned of the Trust from the Diocesan Stewardship Officer. The form was detailed but relatively easy to complete. The Trustees agreed to award us a grant of £15,000 which was very generous.

Our original aim was to replace the North Facing Roof of the church and also to improve the facilities for the disabled if we raised sufficient funds.

Planning started in 2021 but Covid restrictions stopped all work. In 2022 the roof was failing and became an urgent priority. Meanwhile costs had risen considerably. We decided on Phase 1 (roof) and Phase 2 ( disabled facilities) at a later date.

We emailed the Trust explaining the rising costs and requested a percentage of the £15,000 towards Phase 1. The trustees very kindly awarded us the entire £15,000.

As you can see from the photos it is still a work in progress. The roofers are proceeding well despite the bad weather in December 2023 and hope to complete by Easter 2024.

It is important to raise half the money needed first from local charities and donations before approaching the larger grant bodies. Allow plenty of time because some trust boards only meet once or twice a year.
